Culinaria France

by André Dominié, editor, first English edition, 1999. Monumental effort, out of print in hardback. There is nothing timid or subtle about this large (10 ¾” by 12 ½”), heavy (6.9 lbs.) hardback, with the original dust jacket with a color photo of a white Bresse chicken on a sea of royal blue on the front, red spine. Blue covers. It was the Gargantuan “cooking and culture” blockbuster series – coffee table category – of the last decade. This one addresses the various regions of France and their regional food (both country and city) and wine. Recipes and essays.

In addition to this volume, there were also subsequent tomes on Italy (in stock), Spain, China, Southeast Asia and Greece. All of them are big, heavy, splashy, drenched with color photos. Good strong sewn bindings, coated, glossy pages. A lot of cookbook for the price. Great for gifts!

Condition: Book is clean and tight, DJ shows a bit of rumpling at extremities, one repaired tear, still VG+/VG+.

NOTE: Because of its size and weight, shipping will be higher than our standard $5.00. Priority 2-day will be around $30.00; Standard Post will be around $20.00, and Media Mail (slowest) will be $6.00. Overseas postage will be much more.
