His restaurant, The Waterside Inn at Bray, in England's Berkshires, was the first French restaurant in Britain to be awarded Three Stars by the Michelin Guide -- for a period of 25 years! It is now run by his son, Alain. He portrays his life in the form of a menu, and the book is a sort of autobiography, and at book's end he offers twelve recipes one can cook up at home, including such classics as Coq au Vin d la Bourguignonne,, Curried Cream of Pumpkin Soup, Upside-Down Apple Tart and Hare Casserole with Armagnanc, Red Bordeaux Wine and Prunes.
