San Francisco a la Carte

by the Junior League of San Francisco, Doubleday, 1979. Oversize hardback, no DJ, 497 pages. Winner of Best Cookbook, the R.T. French Tastemaker Award (eventually to become the awards of the James Beard Foundation). Cherished and beloved by many. Certainly the popularity and the availability -- even now -- of this volume is due to its publication with a major publishing house. It is unclear who the contributors of the multi-cultural recipes are, but since only a few restaurant recipes are offered, and chefs nor food writers are mentioned, one presumes most of the recipes came from the Junior Leaguers themselves. Unusually nice condition, since the thin paper used for the DJ of the book made it susceptible to rips and tears. Minimal wear to extremities. VG+/-.
