It is considered one of the greatest Italian cookbooks, drawing from all part of that food-rich country. It is believed to be the first Italian cookbook specifically targeted to home cooks. An Americanized version of the work, The Talisman Italian Cookbook, first published by Crown in 1950, translated by Matilde La Rosa (who added some Italian-American dishes), is still popular today -- we have sold every copy we’ve ever offered.
