The Silver Spoon

by Italian culinary writers originally commissioned in 1950 by the magazine Editoriale Domus, second 2005 Phaidon 2005 printing. This is the first English translation of the 1950 Italian publication as "Il Cucciaio D’Argento." Very heavy hardback, no DJ as issued, 1264 pages, color photos throughout, six lbs. The Italian experts were instructed to find and write up the best recipes in every region of Italy, and they did: more than 2,000 recipes. It became sort of a Joy of Cooking Meets the Best of Community Cookbooks. The book became hugely popular in Italy, and kept its reputation as an encyclopedia of Italian cooking ever since. The first translation into English caused a stir when it appeared on these shores in 2005. Handsome, good paper, and two -- two! -– ribbons. VG+. ... Another copy, same condition, 2006 printing. Extra postage cost will be required.
