Elena's Secrets of Mexican Cooking

by Elena Zelayeta, Prentice-Hall, 1968 12th printing of 1958 publication. Hardback, dark green cloth covers, no DJ. Out of print. Before there were the excellent Mexican cookbooks by Rick Bayless, and before him, the definitive volumes by Diana Kennedy, there was Elena. A lot of people think she paved the way to offer North Americans authentic recipes for Mexican food, and treasure tattered hardback and paperback copies.

This example, the only one we’ve ever run across, is what bookmen call a “working copy,” which we hope is self-explanatory, but just in case: It's a well-read copy, still tightly bound, that shows cover edges wear. G (Good)/-.
