The Flavor of Jerusalem

by Joan Nathan and Judy Stacey Goldman, Little, Brown, first edition, 1975. Hardback with DJ. This was Nathan's first cookbook (Goldman is still a travel guide living in Israel). Subtitled "International recipes from the sacred city." Foreword by the late Jerusalem mayor Teddy Kollek, who worked tirelessly to bridge the gaps in that city's diverse population. Nathan revels in it, setting up a dynamic that would serve her well in future books -- meeting and describing the lives and recipes of the people who cooked a panorama of dishes from their previous homelands, whether it was Morocco or Rhodes or the Ukraine. An excellent copy: VG+/VG+. ... Another copy, also first edition, worn DJ, VG+/G, $15. Email us before you by this copy.
