Fun with Food - Baltimore Sunpapers (circa 1955)

by Mrs. Virginia Roeder, Baltimore Sunpapers, no publishing date but circa 1955. Pebbly stain-resistant tan covers, staple bound, 96 pages. The tip-off is the subtitle, "A Cookbook Designed Especially for the Busy Maryland Housewife." Cakes, pies, cookies and other desserts don't get the busy housewife quickie/shortcut treatment, nor do some main dishes, but there is not one casserole nor soup recipe that does not call for a can (or two) or condensed soup!

Mrs. Roeder, who not only wrote several columns for the Sunpapers, was also a specialist and eventually Superintendent of Home Economics for Baltimore Schools. She also eventually was principal of a Baltimore Junior High School. She also did the cooking for her husband and four children. (She is also the author of the excellent "Fun with Seafood," also published by the Sunpapers a year or two later. It is also listed on this site). VG+.
