Chautauqua Recipes - By The Chautauqua Bird and Tree Club (1934)

$30.00

contributions by the Çhautauqua (NY) Bird and Tree Club, Mrs. Thomas A. Edison, president, self-published, soft paper green cover with woodprint pictorial, top ribbon binding, 1934, 138 pages.

Cakes, torts, custards, puddings and pies are the strong points here, and that includes Mrs. Edison's favorite Lemon Pie (contributed by Elin Lindberg), as served in the Koreshan Rustic Tea House, part of an early commune of that time. The recipe has been featured on an online cooking site. Other contributors sign in as the wives of prominent old money types, businessmen, bankers, etc.

The Chautauqua Bird and Tree Club was founded in 1913, and is still going strong. They conduct "bird walks, tree talks, bat chats and biennial nature pilgrimages and house tours."

Text is in mimeographed typewriter printing. Pages are soft and curled at edges but of good quality paper. Cover shows age and wear to extremities. Obviously long out of print. Condition: a strong G.
