Granddaughter's Inglenook Cookbook -- 1946 Fifth Printing

$30.00

recipes by the women of the Church of the Brethren and their friends, Elgin, IL. Out-of-print and increasingly hard to find. This is the 1946 fifth printing of the 1942 publication. Hardback, no dust jacket, 320 pages. Considered a classic general purpose cookbook, beloved and still sought after by many who remember it as their mother's or grandmother's first cookery book. Also still given as a gift for starting-out cooks. Must have been a hit to Amazon.com editors who voted it one of their "Best Books of 2014" (In sales? Popularity? Content? No reason given).

Condition: As the photo illustrates, its light covers show only slight use; shelf wear at the bottom spine. Some previous owner's neat pencil notes alongside a few recipes. Produced with wartime pulp paper, there are a few partly torn but intact pages. Still, a solid VG.
