American Cooking: Eastern Heartland (boxed set)

by the editors of Time-Life, 1971. A boxed set of the hardback and the spiral recipe book. According to the editors, "The Eastern Heartland" includes Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois -- but, oddly, also New York and New Jersey. Two coastal states where the cuisine is, well, not Penn Dutch-ish, but to a large part, Mid-Atlantic coastal? A bit of culinary gerrymandering, I figure, but the range of recipes is remarkable. The hardback, no DJ as issued, has color and b&w photos, historical drawings, culinary history of the region plus some recipes. Box itself has crinkles (creasing), scuffling, wear at extremities. However, the hardback and spiral recipe books are both VG+.
