The International Squid Cookbook

by Isaac Cronin, Aris Books, third printing, 1982. Paperback, 95 pages. Not only does the author favor us with squid recipes from around the globe, he also provides chapters such as In Praise of Squid, A Cleaner Way to Clean Squid, and our favorite, a recounting of a book supposedly written in 1514 in Milan by a guy named Loligo Pealii. It was entitled The Squid Theory of History. Is it just coincidence that this fellw's name is also bestowed on the squid most found in American waters, or is Mr. Cronin having a bit of fun? You decide. VG+.
