Vintage Tin-Lined 1 ½ qt. Solid Copper Saucepan – Near New

This is a vintage 1 ½ qt. substantial tin-lined solid copper saucepan with lid in near-new condition. It has heft and weight (1.15 pounds) for such a relatively small pan. The tin lining is still shiny and bright (see photo), unlike the usual pewter color of a lining that has being cooked in regularly. It is perfect for cooking delicate sauces, since solid copper is so responsive to changes in burner temperature.

The pan is 5 ½” in diameter and 3” deep. The copper is 1.5 mm thick, which manufacturers refer to as home-kitchen weight. The handle and lid handle are of solid brass. It is unmarked, but it carries all of the characteristics of a classic home use French copper pan. (In the past, many French copperware makers would not mark their pans unless they were to be exported). It has NONE of the easily spotted signs of cheap lightweight “wall ornament” pans, some of which are steel pans sprayed with an outside copper spray or overlay.

I have not cleaned nor polished the pan and lid, but it is surprisingly shiny, without a dulling patina. There is some slight normal green verdigras (copper oxide) underneath the handle, as in normal with vintage pans, which can be cleaned off or polished out easily. I wanted you to see it as I found it. There is one slight bump in the lid edge. Condition: still VG+.
