Audubon's Birds of America ("Baby Elephant" size folio)


collected by Roger Tory Peterson and Virginia Marie Peterson, Artabras Books/Harrison House, New York, 1986. Out of print. Hardback with DJ, 435 pages plus concordance and index. An oversized, so-called "Baby Elephant Folio" -- 15" tall by 12" wide, weighing 15 pounds. This 1985 reprint was originally published for the Audubon Society by Abbeville Press, New York in 1981, and offered for sale at $185. There are 435 full color plates, plus 917 illustrations, 482 in full color. There is also a concordance and index. It stands 15 inches high by 12 inches wide.

Condition: Book clean, cream fabric covers clean, slightly cocked: VG; Dust Jacket intact, shows shelf wear and several gouges on the back, one repaired tear and bumping -- so G (Good) only. An altogether acceptable copy at a good price.
